Character Biography

Scuffle has always felt she was destined for a specific purpose, and struggles to find what it is. In her youth, she always imagined herself becoming a great soldier. When she grew up, Scuffle fought alongside the Autobots in the Cybertronian war for several months. One day during combat, a cableworm entered her brain through a harpoon, leaving her incapacitated and forcing her to be sent home.

Lifting and moving jobs have worked out best for Scuffle since her return, and she currently works in construction. Despite her struggles, she still holds a deep feeling that someday far away in the future, there will be a specific purpose waiting just for her. While her soldier designation was originally Scarletscuffle, she now strictly prefers to go by just Scuffle.

Scuffle currently lives in a repurposed school bus, which she has completely filled with deep-sea and space-themed decorations. She has developed an obsession with analog technology, and loves to listen to tapes and records. One day, she dreams of transferring all of her favorite movies, songs, and books onto physical media, and then permanently cutting herself off from the internet. That way, her mindfeed would be gone and she would finally have her hard-earned peace and quiet.

The Cableworm Epidemic

Scuffle and hundreds of other Autobots fell victim to a prototype warfare instrument called a “cableworm.” Cableworms are dangerous parasites invented by Shockwave that wrap themselves directly around a Cybertronian's brain stem.

Once attached, the worm relentlessly breaks down internal antiviruses and firewalls, destroying a Cybertronian’s digital immune guards and forcing full, completely open-web access directly inside their mind. Cableworms are currently impossible to remove without critically damaging the core brain structure or causing permanent paralysis.

Cybertronians afflicted with active cableworms suffer from a constant, unfilterable stream of open-web data pouring directly into their conscious minds, a condition known as "mindfeed." This corrupted mindfeed can cause severe confusion, vivid hallucinations, constant ear-ringing, delayed reaction speeds, and psychological distress. To cope with her own mindfeed symptoms, Scuffle relies heavily on blasting loud music and constant sensory distractions.

Artist Design Notes

Early Design: In Scuffle’s earliest concepts, she was originally designed as an Insecticon, specifically themed after a Red-Backed Jumping Spider, because she's so "jumpy." I eventually shifted her into a standard Autobot layout to better fit her role. However, her eight sharp head antennae remained, which are inspired by the striped legs of a jumping spider.

The yellow rectangles on her cheeks are road reflectors, and the orange-yellow things on the sides of her head can light up.

Electromagnetic Field: Prior to her deployment in the war, her electromagnetic field was vibrant blue and circular. Following the traumatic infection of the cableworm parasite, her magnetic signature permanently distorted, warping into erratic, purple mold-shaped blobs. You can see what it looks like in the second image of her gallery.
